Hi New Friend,
I’m Melanie Talevski. Thank you for stopping in to visit. I wish I could offer you a cup of tea or coffee, whatever is your preference and we could sit across from each other in plush chairs like they have at Barnes and Noble. We’d settle in for a good heart to heart talk. Perhaps we would meet here in the suburbs of Denver, where I live with my husband and three children. The snow could be drifting down in soft flakes outside the window as we talk, or it could be sunny and 60 degrees. Or it could be both in the same day, as truly this happens more often than you might think. I’d have a mug of my favorite in hand: chai tea latte. We’d be in no hurry to pass the time, but just enjoying getting to know each other.
Here are a few of the things I would share with you:
I am on a journey… A journey of being authentic. In the way I live and in the way I write. I’ve been on the sidelines for awhile, even had my share of years of hiding, denying. But something miraculous is happening… God is calling me to come up, to come further (any “The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe” fans here? Best allegory ever).
Continuing with that theme, I’m a Lucy… as I am sure you are too or perhaps you identify with Peter, or Susan or Edmund more. I have been on the outside of the wardrobe but now… now I am discovering this path leads to a whole new world. It’s this magical land that only opens when one’s heart is ready. Just recently, the door opened to me. I was surprised, but knew what needed to be done. So I’m taking one unsteady step after another, but my gaze is on the one who stands before me, the great Aslan. Side by side, I have a feeling He’s going to lead me to discover new sights, new goals, new purposes.
I have always loved writing & words since I was old enough to hold a pencil. I’d come up with a story or write encouraging notes to a friend or family member. My writing skills & research skills were put to the test when I earned my bachelor’s degree in Church Ministries at SAGU, and I continued to hone those skills in writing original curriculum for the Kids’ Ministry of our church here in Denver for fifteen plus years.
Somehow, my life has always had an under-current of writing. In good times and bad, I find myself turning to the pen and the page. My closet full of completed journals proves that point, the first one starting when I was just 6. Somehow writing has always been my way of figuring out my unique, God-given story. But it’s not enough to keep it to myself. I find we all are hungry for authentic moments with others. That is what I hope to convey through my work. I recently wrote a book based on Hallmark’s television series, When Calls the Heart. “The Rosemary Chronicles” was completed November 2019.
I’m excited to share with you the new things God has for me to write. I hope that they will inspire you and encourage you in your walk with the Lord.
